Even though I progressed from entry level communications writer to President of a major energy industry organization, my greatest satisfaction comes from helping more than 400,000 retail, engineering, HR, payroll, utility workers, soldiers, supervisors and managers across the country improve their performance and enhance their careers while serving as a senior advisor to Fortune 1000 companies like Allied Signal, Carrier Corporation, Cutler-Hammer, and the American Gas Association, the Society for Human Resources Management, and the American Payroll Association. By building a coalition of utility, pipeline, and contractor leaders, we built Energy University, now in use by over 800 companies world-wide. Their employees are safer and more productive and their customers' bills are lower. The teams I led, created tools to help thousands of people learn how to improve themselves with proven principles and techniques. I have always felt that "trial and error" is a terrible way to learn. Some very smart people helped me understand how we, as working adults learn best.
